National Park Service / Chesapeake and Ohio Cancel Southside Prism Stabilization – Washington D.C., Georgetown

We are excited to announce that we completed the construction of structural canal stabilization requirements in April for the National Park Service.

The project provided shoring support of the southside prism wall and to protect adjacent historic structures. The project included specialized drilling and installation of anchors 20+’ into the bedrock, forming and placing of concrete footings, structural steel, and backfill stabilization.

Babur R. Mian, P.E., President and CEO of Terra Constructs is proud of the work performed by the Terra team including Shirley Contracting Company, Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Dulles Engineering, Inc. and their commitment to meeting the original completion date. “We overcame the challenges associated with COVID protocols, inclement weather, election disruption, compressed logistical constraints of Georgetown and were able to achieve the critical original schedule completion date for the NPS. I could not be prouder of our effort, our staff and our dedicated subcontractors and suppliers on this project.”

The National Park Service is resuming Canal Boat tours in Georgetown and this completed project will protect the integrity and historic fabric of this wall section for many years to come. Terra Constructs appreciates the opportunity to continue our service and support of the many cultural and historic resources throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Please consider supporting the National Parks and National Park Foundation.
