Babur R. Mian is the President and CEO of the firm. Mr. Mian is a registered professional engineer in multiple states and has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry. His focus is, and has always been, on finding innovative ways to meet client needs.
Prior to founding Terra Site Constructors, Mr. Mian led the growth of multiple firms in the U.S. and abroad. He is responsible for the oversight of all functions at Terra Site Constructors as well as the management of the corporate finances, strategic planning, providing leadership for the ethical principles, and guiding the growth and success of Terra in collaboration with the leadership team. Babur R. Mian, P.E. has also been appointed to the Board of Directors for HCCA & MTBMA.
Mr. Mian holds bachelors and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and has completed extensive training in leadership and management at the Wharton Business School.
Peter W. BernatExecutive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Peter W. Bernat, Terra Site Constructors’ Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer joined the firm in early 2019. With more than 28 years of experience in the construction industry, he is a proven leader with vast experience in managing large infrastructure projects.
Peter’s distinguished project portfolio includes design-build, design-bid-build, complex utilities, fast-track bridges and large-scale transportation infrastructures. He is responsible for developing, refining, and executing the firm’s strategic plan to achieve key objectives, including the continual advancement of the firm’s innovative solutions to address the complex issues faced by Terra’s clients. He also oversees field operations to ensure quality, achieve financial objectives and meet client expectations.
He works closely with Terra’s team of experienced engineers and construction personnel, providing the vision and leadership required to bring projects in on-time and on-budget, and to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
Geoff BambiniSenior Vice President
Geoff Bambini, Terra Site Constructors’ Senior Vice President of Federal Services joined the firm in 2020. He is responsible for Federal contract procurement and works closely with Terra’s executive management team to ensure Federal projects are delivered on-time and on-budget, while meeting all safety and compliance regulations.
Mr. Bambini provides more than 25 years of federal procurement and construction management expertise with both large and small construction firms, including significant experience developing and growing companies involved in the SBA 8(a) business development program to Terra. Mr. Bambini continues to focus on proposal development and estimating as a critical factor for long-term project success and ensures our federal clients receive the highest standard of care.
Edward Joseph Harris Jr.Senior Project Manager
Edward Harris Jr is a proactive and results-focused management professional with proven expertise in lifecycle project management. His career and background are honed through 33 years of experience in the environmental and construction industries. Harris possesses proficiency in federal regulations concerning environmental compliance combined with familiarity with various types of contract vehicles.
As a dedicated manager, Harris employs strategic thinking with innovative problem-solving in delivering exceptional leadership and project results. Aside from his capabilities with project management, Harris demonstrates outstanding presentation skills and proven expertise in establishing effective and productive working relationships. Some of his technical skills include proficiency in Procore, Microsoft Project, Excel, Project Estimator, and RS Means.
Harris served as the president and CEO of CATI, Inc. for over 20 years, assuming full responsibility for managing daily operations, budgeting, staffing, and much more. He rendered superior service while managing a nine-year term contract for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Asbestos abatement is another area of expertise for Harris, as he provided these services to more than 300 properties in New Jersey over a six-year period. He has successfully created and enforced regulations for compliance with the Federal Environmental Protection Agency with respect to the Asbestos Emergency Response Act (AHERRA).
Harris severed as a senior project manager and has been charged with managing day-to-day operations of all construction projects. These duties included multi-million-dollar federal government construction and environmental contracts annually. A few notable projects included the Holocaust Museum, MACC for the Navy, and the Walter Reed National Medical Facility. With a proven track record in federal project management and environmental compliance work resulting in a safer America, Harris values working in teams for a common goal of target achievement.
Murad PanditDirector of Strategic Initiatives
Murad Pandit is the Director of Marketing & Business Development for Terra Site Constructors. Murad brings more than twenty years of private sector expertise in real estate development, finance and entrepreneurship, having worked as an owner/developer as well as a general contractor. His work experience spans real estate and financial services sectors with tenures in leadership positions from start-ups to functional lead roles in Fortune 500 companies.
Murad’s leadership ability, investment acumen, and operational knowledge has been developed on the buy-side in various asset classes, as an owner-developer in real estate, shareholder-manager in private equity as well as an analyst-fund manager for equity securities. He has a seasoned record of working internationally in India and UAE in real estate and related private equity opportunities. Murad was the Managing Partner for Bristow Commons, an upscale mixed-use development in the Washington DC suburb.
Previously, Murad served as the President of The Plan Source, a civil engineering consulting firm focused on land development planning, engineering and design with an operational office in Bangalore, India. Murad has been a founding member and active shareholder in Bristow Montessori School LLC that has been in operation for over a decade as a premier private school offering in its market as well as ABMS (sold in 2016), which was a facility management company based in Dubai, UAE with over $1
billion in assets under management (AUM) since starting in 2011.
Murad has successfully raised rounds of debt and equity funding in his investments by modeling, structuring, marketing, and closing transactions. He has created economic value for himself and his shareholders by generating 13x return on assets in his commercial real estate investments. Prior to his entrepreneurial roles, Murad co-managed a Morningstar four star rated Mid-Cap Growth Equity Fund with $250MM in assets under management and also a four star Large Cap Growth Fund with $1.4B in assets under management at MTB Investment Advisors. As a planner for the US region at ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing, Murad had the responsibility of an annual capital budget of $300MM. He has delivered over $300MM in assets at various stages of the development cycle and has managed through the real asset lifecycle: from land assemblage, entitlements, permitting, lease up, construction, property management to divestment.
Murad has an undergraduate degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech with Magna Cum Laude and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a dual major in Entrepreneurial Management & Marketing. Murad served as the Founder & former Chairman of the Board of Advisors for Bristow Montessori School, Advisory Board Member of Ascent Group in Kashmir, India, and former Board Member for the MCC Medical Clinic, Silver Spring, MD. He enjoys skiing, golf, squash, tennis, photography, motorsports and the outdoors.
Lisa KrowneBusiness Development Manager
Lisa Krowne is a strategic driver of business development and brand awareness. She has a plethora of experience optimizing revenue levels while expanding portfolios for new business growth. Throughout her professional career, her core responsibilities have been to facilitate senior management of new business development and maximization of existing accounts through strategic client growth.
Krowne has facilitated leadership and stakeholder approval during land development projects and acquisitions in the Pacific Northwest region of Costa Rica. She also has entrepreneurial experience with contemporary apparel and fashion brands with a women’s start-up despite the competitive market. With strategic market and competitor analysis, Krowne drove operational excellence through cross-functional team leadership, underpinned by controlling costs, market and brand growth, marketing and business planning, while shaping financial frameworks in liaison with sales and design teams.
Having served as the Communications Director and Chief of Staff doing advocacy work for a legal firm for active-duty soldiers’ rights, Krowne was instrumental in the development of the legislation for a high-profile case involving missing soldier Vanessa Guillen, resulting in a further amendment to the Feres Doctrine. Krowne is known for her ability to source and secure capital for various projects. One prestigious secured fund was from a large private equity firm through a data capture as part of a new multimillion-dollar legal field. She also created a significant investor opportunity and generated millions in revenue for group lot project sales through influential negotiations, lead conversion, and financial planning. Krowne sourced additional capital funding to propel business and set up a network of sales channels and manufacturing facilities with leases, insurance, and employee contracts in place. Krowne is equally strong in her interpersonal people and communication skills. Through a commitment to professionalism and continuous improvement, she has a proven track record of target achievement and revenue generation.
William Potempa Vice President of Estimating
William “Bill” Potempa serves as Terra Site Constructors, LLC’s Vice President of Estimating with over 16 years of progressive work experience in project management and estimating. He specializes in estimating and bidding on new projects for the firm in addition to planning, scheduling, and change order management. He is responsible for leading the estimating team on Federal and Heavy Civil pursuits with diligence and accuracy.
Mr. Potempa has significant experience with major, complex improvement projects ranging in size from under $1M to $487M. His estimating and project management expertise has been further showcased across projects of varying size and complexity, making him an agile asset to the Terra team.
Potempa graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Construction Engineering in 2007 and completed his MS in Executive Management for Design and Construction from Purdue University in 2019. In the spirit of continuous professional development, Mr. Potempa was certified as a Planning and Scheduling Professional by AACEI in 2020.
Eric HilberathVice President of Sales
Eric Hilberath is a founding member Terra Site Constructors, LLC. He was instrumental in the successful pursuit of many early key projects including VDOT I-95 Hot Lanes – I-64 Capacity Sound Walls, Route 250 MSE Walls, Brambleton Substation Screen Walls and the Creighton Road Precast Arch project. As Vice President of Sales, Mr. Hilberath is responsible for the growth of the firm’s heavy civil pursuits. His deep understanding of the engineering construction industry lends itself to the development of innovative and effective solutions for our clients.
A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Mr. Hilberath holds over 42 years of experience in design/build and specialty construction with a proven track record in technical, organizational and leadership skills. Eric excels due to his affinity for building exceptional long term client relationships with General Contractors, State Agencies, Vendors, Suppliers and colleagues.
