Project Overview:

Provided MSE Reinforced Slopes design and materials, soil/seed mixture, labor, equipment, supervision and incidentals to construct and stabilize steepened slopes along highway.

Purpose/Challenges:

Maryland Route 2 in the environmentally sensitive Mount Harmony, Md. Area needed to be widened. The existing right of way, and natural habitat and wet lands on both sides of the existing highway did not provide enough room for the new alignment without either retaining walls or steep slopes to minimize the overall width of the new alignment.

Solutions:

MSE reinforced steepened slopes with wire facing and vegetation were designed to enable the new wider highway to be built with minimal impact on the adjacent woodland environment.

Outcome:

Terra completed the project within the awarded performance period.
